Calcium Silicide Blocks are dense block‑type metallurgical materials produced by pressing and sintering high‑purity calcium silicide, with calcium content stabilized at 28%–32% and silicon content at 55%–60%. They serve as a key block‑form functional alloy for long‑duration calcium treatment, deep desulfurization, and inclusion modification in LF furnaces, RH vacuum refining, and ladle metallurgy. The product offers core advantages such as gentle and sustained calcium release, high sulfur capacity, and low lining erosion, along with characteristics including high block density, uniform dimensions, and strong thermal shock resistance. It enables gradual dissolution of calcium and deep sulfur binding during high‑temperature refining processes, significantly improving steel cleanliness, reducing sulfur content, and optimizing manganese sulfide inclusion morphology.
Produced through isostatic pressing and sintering under a protective atmosphere, combined with controlled micro‑porosity and optimized crystal structure, the product exhibits low volatile content, high thermal stability, and no tendency to crumble or pulverize. It effectively prevents splashing and fume generation, extends refining furnace lifespan, and enhances the reliability and cost‑efficiency of calcium treatment.
